skylt on wood
Previously, the question "I have an untreated wood floor or an untreated piece of wood furniture - is it possible to finish them without changing the aspect?" could only be answered with "no". However, since the introduction of RigoStep SKYLT a resounding "yes" is possible.
SKYLT gives an amazing "unfinished" aspect!
Because of its slight bleaching effect and its ultra matte character SKYLT gives every wooden surface a spectacular untreated aspect: Though you apply two or three layers SKYLT, after drying it still seems like nothing is on the surface. The layers of SKYLT are invisible!. Often only by wetting the surface it can be determined that the wood was indeed finished.
Below on the left an oak floor with 1 x RigoStep SEAL and 2 x RigoStep SKYLT and on the right an afzelia floor with 1 x RigoStep Kambala Primer and 2 x RigoStep SKYLT. The loose boards that are laid on the floors are untreated rest pieces.
SKYLT is very durable
Because you do not see SKYLT people sometimes doubt the protective qualities of SKYLT. We can be brief about that: SKYLT is even more durable than the average two-pack topcoat. With SKYLT wooden floors, furniture, tables, etc. will be perfectly protected from wear and the influences of everyday life.
Naturel or with color
On wooden surfaces SKYLT can be combined with RigoStep COLOR WASH. With a combination of SKYLT and COLOR WASH you only see the color and not the finish. That is at least as beautiful as any oil finish, but without the maintenance hassle.
SKYLT is very easy to maintain
In general it suffices to clean the surface occasionally with our special care product SKYLT Conditioner, which is absolutely residue-free. On floors small scratches and other live tracks can be removed from sight with RigoStep Polymer Floor Polish Matt.
SKYLT on oak
On oak SKYLT can be applied either directly or after a first coat of RigoStep SEAL. Direct application of SKYLT on oak gives an extra blonde result. The choice can be made on the basis of taste. Technically a first coat of SEAL (+ Seal Add) is only necessary when there is a risk of iron contamination of the surface.
The first row below shows examples of floors on which SKYLT is applied directly.
The second row below shows examples of floors on which first a coat of SEAL is applied.
SKYLT on light colored woods
Also on light colored woods such as maple and beech, SKYLT retains the natural, untreated aspect. The top row of pictures below show a white maple floor that is finished with SEAL + TOP Matt on the left and a white maple floor that is finished with 3 x SKYLT on the right . In the second row on the left you see a normal lacquered beech floor and on the right a beech floor finished with 1 x SEAL SKYLT + 2 x SKYLT.
SKYLT on bamboo
When finished with SKYLT bamboo fully retains its natural color. The fine structure and beautiful blonde aspect are hardly altered. Below on the left a bamboo tabletop and floor with a normal floor lacquer and on the right a bamboo floor after finishing with SKYLT.
SKYLT op exotic woods
Also on exotics like merbau, jatoba, etc. SKYLT gives a remarkebly natural result. With conventional oils and varnishes exotics always get darker. Note: When applying SKYLT on Iroko, Afzelia or Basralocus it is imperative to apply a coat of RigoStep Kambala Primer first.
SKYLT as a finish for wood kitchen fronts, inner doors, cabinet doors, etc.
SKYLT gives a beautiful natural loook to wooden kitchen fronts, doors, cabinet doors, etc. Use grips or clean the grip points regularly with a little SKYLT Conditioner.
SKYLT on wooden stairs
Also wooden stairs get a beautiful natural look with Skylt.
SKYLT and discoloration from sunlight
Every wooden surface that is exposed to sunlight will eventually change color. The speed with which this happens depends on the intensity of the sun load. No clear finish that can prevent that, but the light diffusers in SKYLT do a remarkable job slowing down the discoloration from sunlight.
Dutch Championship Parquet Laying
At the Dutch Championship Parquet Laying 2007 all masterpieces were finished with SKYLT. Below left you see champion Wouter van Buren while applying SKYLT. At the right you see a finished masterpiece. As you can see SKYLT looks a little blurry while applying but after drying SKYLT is virtually invisible.
SKYLT in intensief gebruikte ruimten en openbare gebouwen
SKYLT is also successfully used on floors in very high-traffic areas such as public buildings.
Combination of SKYLT and DUO
It is also possible to combine RigoStep SKYLT with RigoStep DUO. Apply two coats of SKYLT first and then a coat of DUO Matt or Satin.
De verwerking van SKYLT
